Mid-Valley Literacy Center (MVLC) was formed as a non-profit in June of 2009. MVLC was established in direct response to the continuing needs of non-traditional adult native English speakers and English Language Learners.
Since then, our volunteer tutors have taught classes for English Literacy, English and Spanish GED, U.S. Citizenship Preparation, Spanish Literacy, Pre-CAN (Certified Nursing Assistant), Basic Spanish, and Basic Computer. We have served adults from over 65 countries speaking more than 35 languages.
The Workplace Literacy Program offers customized curriculum for each business we serve. The program allows students to learn at their place of work. Offering both English classes for employees and Spanish classes for staff. This reduces errors, product loss, and increases safety in the workplace. It also assists the employees with the opportunity to advance, make more money, and better provide for themselves and their families.
Funds raised through donation are necessary because we do not receive any Federal, State, or Local funding. MVLC is completely financed through donations, student tuition, grants, and our Workplace Literacy Program.
